You can permanently delete your account from your account settings. Deletion removes your profile, photos, matches, and messages. Some data may be retained for safety or legal compliance.
Deactivation versus permanent deletion
Before deleting, consider whether deactivation is what you actually need. Deactivation hides your profile from the discovery feed and from other members, but preserves your account data so you can reactivate later. If you are taking a break from dating but may want to return, deactivation is the lower-commitment option.
Permanent deletion removes your account entirely and cannot be undone. Once you delete, your profile, photos, matches, diary entries, and message history are removed from the platform. You will need to create a new account if you want to use me.you again in the future.
How to permanently delete your account
- 1 Log in to your me.you account.
- 2 Click your profile photo in the top navigation to open the account menu.
- 3 Go to Settings.
- 4 Scroll to the "Account" section at the bottom of the settings page.
- 5 Click "Delete account".
- 6 Read the confirmation message carefully — it explains what will be removed.
- 7 Enter your password to confirm the request.
- 8 Click "Permanently delete my account".
- 9 Your account will be deleted immediately and you will be signed out.
What data is removed when you delete
- Your profile, display name, bio, prompts, and preferences.
- All profile photos you uploaded.
- Your match history and all messages sent and received.
- Your diary entries (all visibility levels).
- Your like history and discovery activity.
- Your referral records and any pending referral rewards.
What data may be retained after deletion
Some data may be retained for a limited period after deletion for safety and legal compliance reasons. This includes records of reports you submitted or reports made against your account, and anonymised usage logs that do not identify you personally. This is standard practice and is described in full in the Privacy Policy.
If you have concerns about specific data and want it removed, or if you have a GDPR or CCPA data subject request, contact support directly with the subject line "Data deletion request". We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
