Why email verification is required

Email verification is one of the most effective lightweight measures for keeping fake, bot, and throwaway accounts out of a dating community. Every person in the me.you discovery feed has confirmed access to a real email address. This is a meaningful signal of authenticity — it does not guarantee everything, but it removes an enormous class of low-effort fake accounts.

From a member safety standpoint, email verification also means the platform has a reliable way to reach you about security alerts, account changes, and any moderation decisions that affect your account.

What happens immediately after signup

As soon as you complete the registration form, we send a verification email to the address you provided. The email contains a single-use link that is tied to your account and expires after 24 hours.

Until you click the link, your account is in a pending state. You can log in and view your profile, but you will not appear in the discovery feed and you will not be able to like or message other members. This prevents unverified accounts from interacting with the community.

What to do if you did not receive the verification email

  1. 1 Check your spam or junk folder — automated emails are frequently filtered there.
  2. 2 Search for an email from [email protected] or with "me.you" in the subject line.
  3. 3 If you cannot find it, log into your account and go to Settings.
  4. 4 Look for the "Resend verification email" option and click it.
  5. 5 Wait a few minutes, then check your inbox again.
  6. 6 If you still do not receive it, contact support with the email address you used when signing up.

Can I change my email address after signing up?

Yes. You can update your email address from your account settings. When you change your email, a new verification email is sent to the updated address and you will need to verify it before the change takes effect. Your old email remains associated with the account until the new one is confirmed.

If you no longer have access to the email you used to sign up and cannot verify a new address, contact support directly with as much account information as possible so we can help you regain access.
