You can report any member from their profile page or from within a conversation. Select a reason, add details if you have them, and submit. Our team reviews every report.
How to report from a profile
- 1 Go to the member's profile page.
- 2 Click the three-dot menu or the "Report" link near their profile photo.
- 3 Select the reason that best matches the situation (fake profile, harassment, offensive content, suspicious behaviour, or other).
- 4 Add any additional context in the notes field — specific quotes or descriptions of what happened are especially helpful.
- 5 Click "Submit report".
- 6 You will receive a confirmation that your report has been received. You do not need to do anything else.
How to report from within a message conversation
- 1 Open the conversation in your inbox.
- 2 Click the three-dot menu at the top of the conversation.
- 3 Select "Report conversation".
- 4 Choose a reason and add any context about specific messages.
- 5 Submit the report.
- 6 You can also block the person at this step to prevent any further contact while the report is reviewed.
What happens after you submit a report?
Every report is reviewed by a real person on the me.you moderation team. We do not use fully automated systems to adjudicate reports — human review is important because context matters. A report that looks like a minor violation in isolation may be part of a pattern that warrants stronger action.
You will not receive updates on the specific outcome of your report in most cases, because moderation decisions about other members' accounts are confidential. However, you will be informed if the review results in any action that directly affects your account.
Reports are typically reviewed within 24 to 48 hours. Urgent safety reports (threats of harm, criminal behaviour) are escalated and reviewed faster.
When to contact the safety team directly
For most situations, the in-platform report system is the right tool. But for urgent situations — someone has threatened you, you believe you are in contact with someone using a stolen identity, or there is a risk of real-world harm — please contact us directly through the safety page or contact form. Include as much specific information as possible.
In situations involving imminent personal danger, contact your local emergency services first. me.you's safety team can assist with platform-level actions, but immediate physical safety is always the priority.
